No bake cookies what kind of oatmeal

Most helpful critical review MLawyer. Rating: 1 stars. This is the worst recipe I have ever used. I made it twice thinking I did something wrong the first time. The cookies don't set up at all.

We couldn't even eat them because I had to spoon them off the wax paper. Finally I threw them in the trash Horrible cookies! Reviews: Most Helpful. Amanda Tanton. Rating: 4 stars. I boil this for 6 minutes - I also use 5 tbsp cocoa. If it starts to get crumbly stir in a teaspoon or two of hot water and they should set up fine.

This is an excellent recipe especially if you are not a peanut butter lover. My family loves the cocoa taste! It is very easy to make. The key to making it great is to remember to let the mixture come to a boil and THEN boil it for one minute longer. We can never decide between these or a classic Oatmeal Chocolate Chip so we usually make both! It's easy to dump the entire amount of oats in at once, but for the best cookies add the oats a cup at a time. I love them a little softer so I sometimes add a little less oats, but if you want a heartier more oat filled cookie, then add more oats.

Stop adding oats when the mixture looks good. It won't change too much while drying so you'll have a good sense of what they will be like before scooping all of them out. It's important to bring the mixture to a boil to make sure everything melts together well, but all it needs is a minute. Letting it boil for too long will cause the cookie to be grainy and no one wants a grainy cookie.

Hands down the best part about these cookies is that they stay good for dayssss. My family calls them "road trip" cookies. We would make them for every family vacation and they would stay good for the whole trip and were the perfect snack while driving cross-country! I am now thinking to make them with oatmeal and raisins because I love chocolate covered raisins.. I remember making these when I was a young girl.

This recipe is right on target for me. Thank you for sharing. The cookies will not harden even after an hour of cooling. Did you make sure to set the timer once it came to a rolling boil? If you set it too soon, that can happen. You can try either refrigerating them or microwaving them for a few seconds. I do recommend quick oats, just because old-fashioned oats tend to give them a much chewier texture. If you have a food processor you can pulse them a few times to help break them up and make them similar to quick oats too.

I really enjoy your site. I have been out of commission for the past several months, so now I am up to the wonderful challenge of seasonal and Christmas baking. Always delicious. Thanks for sharing. Very easy for the novice. Mine came out a little too oaty. Overall taste is great, but waaaaay too sweet for me, and even for my kids.

Is it possible to make these with an unsweetened almond butter? American style peanut butter is not available where I live. I have not made them. I am not good at changing recipes. Maybe you can help. I learned you. Ould subdtitute the butter for cocanut oil and i tried it with the same measurement for butter and it turned out fabulous. Put in refridgerater to set up good and put in air-tight contsiner after about two hours.

I think your recipe is perfect. Thank You for sharing. God Bless. And stay safe. Can I substitute canola olive oil for the butter or just leave it out completely and maple syrup for vanilla extract? You can leave out the vanilla extract. These are so good! Dangerously so, I need to find a way to hide the rest of them from myself before my teeth fall out. Thank you for making this so easy to follow. I decided to try your way and they were perfect. Great recipe, thank you for sharing it.

I love no bake cookies and these are definitly the recipe I grew up eating. Hi Danielle! I am 13 years old and I love your site and your recipes! I love baking and you have really encouraged me to bake amazing things! I did add a slight amount more oatmeal than called for because it seemed like it should have been a little thicker. Also I added the vanilla into the wet stuff way before adding the PB and oats. Also--I didn't time it. Apparently people have a very difficult time with this step--I have no idea why!

I brought it to a rolling boil stirred it a little and then took it off the heat after I thought a couple minutes passed. I am sure I cooked it longer than the 90 seconds posted. Lastly I stirred in the PB after turning the heat off and stirred the PB to let it completely melt before adding the oats. Alice Shockley. This is one of the old favorites. The key is to boil exactly one minute from the time it hits a rolling boil then remove from the heat and to stir constantly while it boils.

These are awsome!!! The nice thing is that I had everything for them already in my kitchen!! Just a hint: once you drop them onto the wax paper, go back and "push" each one together so that you end up with less little crumblies.

Rating: 3 stars. I made this recipes twice following the directions and ingredients exactly and they turned out crunmbly each time. The second time I even decreased the cooking time to 1 minute and still a crumbly mess. They tasted good but I hate how they crumble everywhere. I am still looking for a chewy no bake cookie.

These were delicious!! I used creamy peanut butter instead of crunchy. These disappeared fast and i would make them again and again!
